Update on Erin “Nexi” Oliver

Normally I keep all mail I get anonymous, but this one stated that it was “for the record,” so I believe it was intended to be a public statement.

For the Record:

As of November 2005, Burlesque Noir had severed all professional ties with Erin “Nexi” Oliver and Exposition PR.

Thank you,

Burlesque Noir management

Sounds like they had the right idea.

Erin “Nexi” Oliver tries to cash-in

Amazingly, some of the people interested in “outing” SG seem to have motivations beyond the purely moral. One of those folks is Erin “Nexi” Oliver.

Erin Oliver used to run FetishGlamGirls.com, a site that hasn’t updated in over a year but is still taking memberships (classy!). She also manages (or said she did about a year ago) a burlesque troupe called Burlesque Noir [UPDATE: Burlesque Noir now states that Erin Oliver is no longer involved with the organization]. You might also remember Erin Oliver as the person behind such classics as “gloomdolls.com,” a site that hosted a bunch of docs supposedly talking about how horrible SG is, almost entirely based around the Chad “Satan” Grant case. Apparently they even asked for donations to defend against the Mighty SG’s legal team. In reference to these materials, Spin Magazine said

Not all the information offered on these sites turned out to be truthful

Oops. Anyway, Erin Oliver was doing this out of the kindness of her heart, right? Surely she wouldn’t have jumped on the “let’s fuck with SG” bandwagon with the intention of cashing in while they were supposedly weakened, would she? And she did so much for Chad Grant, she wouldn’t turn on him if he finally started going live with the site he’d talked about for the past 2 years, would she?

(As an aside: if you think this shit is gonna put SG out of business, you are a fool).

This screenshot shows a seeming dislike for Chad Grant brewing amongst the believers:

Folks discussing BW on Myspace

I am confused by this behavior, however because my attorney is my father, and has told me to stay off the boards in speaking about this, I can’t really call him out and find out why he seems to fitting the profile of a cyber stalker, and why he dislikes me so much, that he is attempting to ruin my “REAL LIFE”

First off: your dad is your attorney? Uh oh. Secondly: I think the quotes around “REAL LIFE” negate the realness of your life. But then again, maybe it was already negated.

This is classic, from a 41 year old man named “Gregory” who is really too old for this shit:

Can the rest of us give him trouble for this? Check with your father first, if necessary. I’ve had it with him.

And then, the war cry of the disenfranchised youth:

GRRRRR… I WANT A JOINT RIGHT NOW HARDCORE….

Anyway, so the shit goes way longer than that. If you want to read more, check out this pdf on dramawhores.com. This includes Erin “Nexi” Oliver saying things about Chad Grant like:

I am looking forward to [Chad], as the Rev Mitcz puts it getting “the rough anal” for all this shit.

So anyway, let’s skip forward a bit to last month…

Ms. Oliver, “Managing Partner” of Exposition PR LLC (LLC filing in New Mexico) and “CEO” of http://www.perversefixation.com, recently posted (and subsequently removed all of her own posts) a request for advice on “how to get porn financed” to the tune of $750,000, as well as a post “looking for a partner…” to Small-Business-Forum.com It’s good to see she sorted out the important stuff about her site, like a Myspace profile, placeholder site, a gmail account (important for that professional look), and names to drop before worrying about minor issues like financing.

Erin 'Nexi' Oliver looking for financing

Some interesting quotes from this:

I have a small update on this info here, my company is also seeking a investment of around 20k to produce an alt adult film, as my partner is very intimate with the adult film industry (she is the one who got us the playboy night call gig which is open for this film as well) She knows the industry inside and out, also we have got some big names in the industry willing to star in the film which gives us the name recognition needed to make more money.

Hey, remember when people got all pissed because SG was working with Playboy?

A skeptic responds:

You are looking for a sizable investment, and along those lines one has to consider the person they are investing with as much as the concept itself. I’d probably advise you to think this through some more and post with more clarity and less reference to unverifiable information.

In particular, the numbers provided about SuicideGirls.com make me nervous as they are obvious obtained via hearsay and not necessarily fact. For example: SG claims 100,000 members and you claim one “not named” model was responsible for a third of the membership sign-ups. I would be more interested in investing in that model’s personal site and grabbing 35,000 people for 5 bucks a month. In fact, this model - responsible for one third of a membership base that generated a claimed (by you) 46 million last year - should be the person that is making your pitch for you.

Erin Responds:

The information that I have obtained, was not via “hearsay” it was obtained through court documents. United States of America Vs. Chad Grant

… which she doesn’t provide any linkage/documentation for …

I know there are other sites that are sex positive, Blue Blood may be one of them. I do not consider them ethically sound considering they have purchased the content pin up package, but that’s another issue.

Well, that’s cute.

Since when is it bad to be controversal in porn? Um, Look at Larry Flynt. Being a media darling is not a bad thing. There is no such thing as bad publicity in porn.

Ho ho ho, this is fucking funny. First off, then why did you even bother to say anything about SG? Apparently that would only help them. Secondly, some bullshit on LJ and Myspace isn’t the media — you’re no one’s darling, hon. Thirdly, get back to me when you get shot, paralyzed and have to have someone wipe your ass for the rest of your life because you repeatedly fought the government in court over 1st A. rights. Until then, shut the fuck up about your similarities to Larry Flynt.

Erin forgot that people can quote what she wrote

After she deleted her posts, Erin changed her profile image to the following hilarious avatar:

Sex-positive, unless it's gay sex

After someone pointed out that homophobia may not be the kind of attitude investors are looking for, she changed it to the following image that was probably stolen from the Something Awful forums:

Emo passive-aggressive avatar

And yet, all through this, what is Erin’s homepage, as listed in her small-business-forum.com profile? A link to scans of the Bust article about SG.

Erin's Profile on SBF

I’m sure her heart is in the right place.

SG Selling “Archived” Sets to Other Sites

SG Archives For Sale

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hollywood, CA — Los Angeles based 3Jane corporation admitted today, “it is official, we are dicks.”

http://www.contentpinup.com/

This just in: we’ve received reports from very reliable sources that SG has been selling, via a broker, a large number of their extensive collection of “archived” sets to other content providers. This includes sets shot by Selena “Missy” Mooney. These sales are not exclusive, meaning the same set may appear on a number of sites. Given the growing popularity of “alt” porn in the mainstream, it seems likely that sets that ran on SG will be appearing on many of the growing number of sites launched by mainstream companies.

In other words, if those models were pissed before….

GodsGirls loses one in court case with SG

Wondering why GodsGirls hasn’t shown up yet? Well, besides their keystone cops web developers, I mean. Word is that GodsGirls/OffWorld Media have lost the first part of SG’s lawsuit against them for interfering with the business relationships SG had with models that GG recruited away. Anyone with more details is encouraged to drop us a line.

Update: follow-up info from trusted sources (not the chick who didn’t even know what her web developers were up to) indicates this rumor was not true. The battle of assholes continues!

Case against Chad Grant dismissed

Just a quickie: the government has dropped its case against Chad Grant (aka “Satan”), programmer and co-siteop of DeviantNation. A second trial was held in the past couple weeks, and this one also resulted in a non-unanimous jury decision in Grant’s favor (which, if I remember my episodes of Perry Mason properly, would result in a mistrial).

Comedy Gold

  • Part of the unfinished GodsGirls.com site was left open to the public, and hilarity ensued when it was discovered that the model application and model profile templates said stuff like “Why do you want to be a SuicideGirl?” For your enjoyment, here’s a 2MB zip archive of the files:

The model profiles are filled in with mockup content that seems to be from the coders that the GG conglomerate hired to do the work. Almost all the profiles have this piece of text in them:

Digitela Web Development Company – is the team of developers and designers with extensive experience in website designing, developing, ongoing support, graphic design, flash development, 3d modelling and animation, branding, graphic design, multimedia, print production, logo design and a wide range of custom web development and custom software development (anything from simple applications to full-scale network projects including database planning, promo website development and website promotion

A few weeks ago, the Digitela site was up, but it seems to be gone now (Google cache, Archive.org cache). Digitela is also mentioned on Raves.com as a partner — Raves.com being a site Annaliese apparently worked on previously, and is associated with Gavin Lloyd’s Offworld Media Group, the owners of GodsGirls LLC.

One also has to wonder what the fuck they were doing, if this is all they had done after months of work.

  • Dia, who used to be all about telling everyone how SG tried to assrape Deviant Nation’s main programmer Chad Grant, apparently has been threatening Mr. Grant with legal action over some kind of perceived slights. She may have contacted the FBI about these things. The whole thing seems pretty sad, honestly, but it does consistent with the impression I had that Dia was WAY too obsessed with SG (but shit, that could be said about a lot of people).
  • Models: certain altporn sites may be considering affiliate programs where their partners host the images, not them. This means that under current 2257 laws, the model’s personal info (including legal name, address, probably a copy of driver’s license, etc.) would need to be provided to those partners. Might wanna ask about their plans — and make sure it’s spelled out in your contract — before signing over your pictures to that awesome punk rock porn site on your Myspace friends list.

Save tha drama for yo mama

This is part of a response to a comment posted earlier today. It brings up some issues related to why I do this site, and I wanted to highlight it here. Unless otherwise indicated, none of this is aimed at a particular site or organization.

If you want to focus on some drama why not report about how when they tried to start this thing Suicide Girls sued them and tied everything up in court for a few years until SG of course lost for having a baseless suit.

I haven’t actively decided not to discuss that. I’ve known about that for at least two years now, though, and as far as I’ve seen it’s pretty easy to get the info related to that. Generally, I try to talk about things that either aren’t widely known, or bring up perspectives that seem to be missing from active discussions. What I’ve found is that most fanboys/fangirls of altporn sites know very little about how sites are operated, or how the adult industry as a whole operates, and therefore are unaware when people in the industry pull some questionable shit. SG’s the best example of that, but far too few people are learning anything from that situation and applying a healthy distrust to all the other sites and organizations in this genre.

To be clear, because people seem to think that I’m implying shit I’m not:

I am not saying that site A or site B or site C is operated by evil zionist fucktards who hate women, or whatever flavor or capitalist/racist/sexist pig you dislike the most.

I am, however, saying that:

  • the vast majority of people who are fans of this genre are extremely naive about how these businesses are run
  • the vast majority of people who are fans of this genre swallow a whole lot of bullshit marketing designed and packaged to appeal to their notions of feminist punk rock rebellion. And despite the fact that we already have a huge example of this in this genre, people are still doing it with their chosen flavor of the week.
  • you shouldn’t give your trust to anyone until they’ve proven it, and I can count on one hand the number of organizations in this genre who have proven worthy.

And that includes me. Don’t believe what I say, if you like. Just please, don’t believe the hype. Be suspicious and critical.

Security isn’t really that important. Now give me your credit card

Update on the update: Gwindylyn wrote again to state that the cards numbers are being collected for age verification purposes. I appreciate her taking the time to address the concerns raised here to some extent.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Update: A comment from “Gwindylyn” who appears to be from DN states:

We have corrected the encryption problem. FYI.

Still no word on why credit card #s are being requested. One comment reports not being asked, but others say they had to enter one.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

So DeviantNation is apparently getting close to finishing up their three year long development process, because they’re starting to send out emails that give instructions on getting access to folks who have signed up for beta testing. One interesting tidbit that’s coming out is that activating your beta access requires entering a credit card number. This is, of course, a free service, so requesting a credit card number seems curious.

That is, unless they’re trying to use it as a method of age verification. This might be okay, except that:

  • That’s a pretty poor way of verifying age, and in fact Visa and Mastercard refuse to allow their systems to be used in such a way
  • If you’re really serious about age verification, you can find something pretty comprehensive via Google in about 30 seconds
  • 95% of adult sites give away some 2257-covered content without requiring a credit card. At most, they make you say that “yes, I’m 18 years old,” and maybe something about living in a jurisdiction that allows adult content. Admittedly the new FBI “war on porn” shit is troubling, but do you think that after they deal with rape and shit porn, their next target will be a tiny punk pinunp site?

Oh yeah, and beyond that, they don’t encrypt the connection to send your credit card info to their site. The DN codemonkey claims that it “slipped his mind,” but Christ on a crutch, if you have ANY clue about running a porn site — or any e-commerce site, for that matter — you know that encryption of payment information is fucking essential. Yeah, it’s a lot easier and more likely that your card will get swiped over the phone or at a restaurant, but anyone who has worked in this biz for more than 10 minutes knows that people shit a brick when they don’t see their little lock symbol when entering payment info.

In addition, a faithful reader passed this on to me:

But they don’t actually validate the [credit card] number..
Go ahead.. enter a fake one and you get in.

Why are they asking people for credit card numbers?
What are they doing with them?

Those are good questions.
